About Us
Shepherds on the Hill is a small facility nestled 50 miles north of St. Louis, MO. We take pride in raising healthy, well-tempered German Shepherd puppies. All pups are vet-examined before they go to their forever home, and they come with a one-year health guarantee. Our dogs are of European bloodlines that consist of East and West working German. Their ancestry goes back to DDR. Most of the ancestral bloodline is from the Grafental Kennels of Germany. The bloodlines of our dogs are 100% working lineage. Our Czech imports are out of the famous Eurosportu kennels, some of the greatest police and border patrol dogs from the Z Pohranicini Straze.
  • Shepherds on the Hill always has the well-being of the puppies in mind; once puppies are around four weeks old, we welcome folks to visit us directly to pick your puppy. This provides a great opportunity to ask questions.
  • Upon selecting your new friend, a $500.00 deposit is requested to hold your puppy for you. We ask that you notify us ASAP if anything changes and you no longer wish to purchase the puppy.
  • At 8 weeks old, your puppy will be strong enough to leave Mom and join his/her new family.
  • The adoption of a puppy is a big commitment. As a prospective dog owner, we suggest that you thoroughly research GSD to ensure that the puppy you choose is a good fit for your family.

Who Are We?

My name is Barry. My wife Sheila and I own Shepherds on the Hill. I have over a decade of military service; from the 70's to 80's I worked with man-dog team, dog training for police dogs, and home protection training. I started out in Vietnam around sentry and scout dogs, not as a handler, but observing. I got hooked on the German Shepherd breed because of their ability and loyalty.
When I returned to the states, I got the privilege of working with the handlers with their dogs in my free time. In the late 80's, I started working with an Inland K-9 Security group, training police dogs and working man-dog team in West Port Plaza, Kansas City. I started a breeding program with Inland K-9, and some of our impressive puppies went on to serve in Sheriff's departments. Two even went to the Dominican Republic as riot dogs.
When I relocated to St. Louis, I got away from the dog training business. But through the years, Sheila and I have always had a beloved German Shepherd by our side and always will.
